The GFA 2nd Division league commenced last week with a flurry of goals registered in week one with 16 goals scored among the ten teams in league two.

GPA and Interior the two relegated teams from league one, played a 1-1 draw last Saturday 7th March 2009 at the Brikama Mini Station while on the same day Ham Ham FC, were beaten 1-0 by Young Africans.

The newcomers Serrekunda United, failed to collect a point after a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Nema United on Friday 6th March 2009 at Manjai. Kaira Silo netted four goals to thrash Jambanjelly 4-1 on Friday 6th 2009 at Brikama while S/East scored a late winner against Lamin FC in a hard-fought 3-2 win to S/East at their own grounds.

The mid-week fixtures will see Nema United lock horns with Ham Ham on Friday 13th March 2009 at Brikama while the 2005/6 league champions GPA, will battle it out against S/Kunda East on Friday 13th at S/K East Mini Stadium. The current leaders Kaira Silo take on Interior at Manjai on the same date and all matches kicked off at 4:30pm.
