As part of its cultural exchange programs, the United States embassy in Banjul, on Wednesday evening organised a classical piano concert with renowned American pianist Roman Rudnytsky, who is also an international active concert pianist with a Ukrainian background.

His frequent and splendid performances took him all over the world. In his welcoming remarks, Barry Wells, US ambassador to The Gambia, expressed delight with the cultural program. He introduced Roman Rudnytsky to the audience and spoke at length about his musical background."Since 1984, Roman Rudnytsky has given concerts and conducted master classes in 32 countries under the auspices of the cultural programs of the US embassies around the world. His current trip has included concerts in the last couple of weeks in Honduras, Britain and Senegal and from Banjul he will be performing in Mauritania," Ambassador Wells noted.

The US ambassador to The Gambia thanked all those who honoured their invitation. Born in New York into a prominent Ukrainian musical family, Roman Rudnytsky began the study of piano at the age of 4 and gave his first full recital when he was 7 years old.

He is a graduate of the famous Juilliard School in New York and also did additional studies at the Peabody conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and at master classes at the "Mozarteum" in Austrian as well as in Italy. The concert was attended by government officials, diplomats, artists and a cross section of the US embassy’s staff.
