The Vision Development Foundation on Wednesday launched a grand meat sale on subsidised prices for the poor and under-privileged across the Kanifing Municipality and Banjul for the feasts of Koriteh and Laylatul Hadr.
The venture, according to Modou Turo Darboe, a renowned businessman and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, is in response to the clarion call made by President Jammeh for the reduction of basic commodities during the holy month of Ramadan, particularly the price of meat.
Based on the Vision Development Foundation’s tradition of providing basic consumer items to the poor and needy during the month of Ramadan, Mr. Darboe said, in an interview with this paper that, the foundation wishes to subsidise the price of meat to make it affordable to the poor and needy during the feasts.
The Fajikunda-based businessman stated that as partners in development, the foundation wishes to erect three temporal meat shops at Serrekunda East Buffer Zone and other locations within the Kanifing Municipality for the purpose, with a view to helping the poor and needy.
The price for meat, Turo added, is pegged at D60 and D80 for meat, and bone and steak, respectively.
