Wassu mosque committee seeks for assistance again

The mosque committee and villagers of Wassu in the Central River Region, have appealed to the government, parastatals, donor agencies as well as individuals, to come to their aid in financing the construction work of their central mosque, which is at its completion stage.

Construction of the village central mosque came to a standstill for the past three years, due to lack of finance. Speaking to the Daily Observer, Muhamadou Lamin Yaffa, a resident of the village who is also the president of the Wassu Youth Development Association (WYDA), appealed for financial assistance in a bid to enable them complete the construction work at the village central mosque.

According to him, since the beginning of the construction work, villagers were contributing a lot but now,  it has come to a point when they have exhausted their funds and the mosque is not completed. He thanked the Social Security Housing and Finance Cooperation (SSHFC) for donating them a sum of D5,000 towards the construction as well as the support from and some other natives of Wassu  He also hailed the efforts of Hon. Ebrima Manneh, National Asembly member for the Niani constituency, the chief of the area and the community of Wassu, for their efforts and contribution.

Demba Sambou, a native of the village who also serves as an adviser to the association, echoed similar sentiments and further revealed that they need only to complete the roofing, plastering, window frames and doors.
