One of Senegal’s most influential rappers of recent years, Pacotille, is currently in town for yet another spectacular performance at the Cotton Night Club.
He will perform today, Friday 6th February and tomorrow, Saturday 7th February at Dream Park. The events were organised by One Family in collaboration with Bulldoff Production. Pacotille and his crew began the musical tour in Jarra Soma on the 30th of January. They visited Farrafenni on the 31st of January, prior to their arrival in the Greater Banjul Area.
Speaking to What’s On, Pacotille described the tour as one of the most successful he has ever embarked on in the country. He hailed Gambians for the love they have for his music, saying “all the concerts were well attended. People came out in large numbers and this shows how much Gambians love my music.”
According to him, his songs are mainly about children, the future leaders of any country. He said children are vital in any society and called for more investment in and protection for them. He condemned child rights violations - such as child prostitution and trafficking - and urged musicians to do their utmost to awaken people to the need to protect children.
The Senegalese musician then saluted Gambian musicians and called on the authorities to assist them. He hailed Gambians for the love they have for their culture, especially President Yahya Jammeh, citing the support he always accords to cultural festivals hosted in the country.
He described Senegalo-Gambian relations as excellent and also took the opportunity to announce that his new album is in the offing and will be on sale within three months. He is expected to perform alongside Mo Hawk of the Da Fugitivz, Vex Gungyman and the Peppa House. Guest artists include Heartbreaker, Abraham from the Alliance, Emperor, DLC, Aziz Royal Philosopher, and MLK.
