Woman Given Over D100,000 Bail for Theft

One Absa Ndong was Thursday 26th March 2009 granted bail in the sum of D150, 000 by senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused Absa Ndong on or about the 15th February 2009 at Fajara stole from the house of one Njaga Hydara a jewellery box containing six gold bangles, two gold chains, earings valued at D80, 000, $900, 20 pounds, 10, 000 CFA and 40 Moroccan currencies being the properties of Njaga Hydara. The accused however pleaded not guilty.

She was subsequently granted bail on the deposition of D150, 000 or the provision of two Gambian sureties, one of whom should be in possession of a landed of that value within the Greater Banjul Area; the title deed of which should be deposited with the Assistant Registrar.

The case was adjourned to the 9th April 2009 for full hearing.
