YCF to hold inter-schools competition in maths, science subjects

In its bids to promote mathematics and science subjects in schools, the Youth Care Foundation, The Gambia, will hold an inter-schools competition in mathematics and science subjects among secondary schools throughout the country in the coming months.

Kolapa Abdu, the director of the organisation said the programe is planned to facilitate a healthy and academic contest among secondary school students to increase their interest in Mathematics. He added that, it will also serve as a formula to further improve the study of mathematics among youths.

The competition will consist of basic and essential theory and knowledge in core mathematics in the Junior and Senior Secondary syllabus. “The promotion of the science and technology is a rudimental on the principles of the application of mathematics. It will also keep students in pace to share a common goal, the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge needed to succeed in an ever-changing world” he said.

According to him, Mathematics is the science of pattern found in numbers, space, science, computer, imaginary abstractions or elsewhere.
