Magistrate Sanyang vows to Strike out Case

In the ongoing case against Ousman Rambo Jatta, the Old Bakau Ward Councilor, the presiding magistrate, Kebba Sanyang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, yesterday ruled that if by the next adjournment date of October 16th the accused is not produced in court, he would strike out the case for lack of prosecution.

“This case is no exception to other cases. I will strike out the case for lack of prosecution if the accused is not produced in court,” said Magistrate Sanyang, adding that the prosecution has its final opportunity until the next adjournment date.

In his earlier submission, defence counsel Ousainou Darboe said he was dismayed that even though the court gave an order for this client to be brought in court before the adjournment date of yesterday October 10th, the order had never been carried out by the prosecution.

Lawyer Darboe disclosed to the court that he was reliably informed that Rambo is being detained at the Gunjur Police Station. In his reply, Inspector Bojang said he had informed the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) about the court’s order for Rambo’s release.
