Principal Magistrate Kebba Sanyang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court has ordered that Ousman Jatta, the Old Bakau Ward Councillor, be produced on or before the next adjourned date of 10th October 2006.
The magistrate issued the order yesterday when the accused, Ousman Jatta, failed to appear in a criminal case filed by the state against him, apparently as a result of having been picked up by security agents.
Omar Jatta, who is said to be the father of Ousman Jatta, informed the court that his son was picked up at his office in Cape Point since Saturday, and that since then his whereabouts eludes the family.
Ousman Jatta has been standing trial for the alleged offence of using abusive words which were considered by the state to be a threat to the peace and tranquility of the nation.
