Thursday, November 15, 2007

Mr John Moller and Mrs Bente Moller, a Danish couple who are co-founders of Gambia venner, a charitable NGO in Demark, on Tuesday visited a host of schools among them, Bakau Newtown Lower Basic, Muhammedan lover basic and Methodist preparatory, to gauge the level of interaction of students with the school materials they donated to these schools earlier.

Speaking to Top Class, Mrs Sainabou Lowe, Head Mistress of Bakau Newtown Lower Basic School, expressed her appreciation to the foundation for their kind gesture.  She added that the Gambia Venner has done a lot for her school and that they are looking forward to receiving more items from them in the future. She also appealed for sponsorship for some students in the school. She said: “We are appreciative of everything, and we wish to have more from you. May God give you the energy and strength to excel.”

In the same vain, Mrs Anta Sanneh, principal of Bakau Upper Basic School, said that it was gratifying to be having this association every year, since the inception of the school, as they have been assisting her school.

“I therefore express the school’s heart-felt gratitude for all the assistance and services they have been rendering us”, she concluded.

For her part Mrs Bente Moller, explained that they are here to inspect the materials donated to the schools and also to further explore the level need of the schools, so that they can make a report to Danita and Mellem Folkeligt somvirke, a Danish international development agency in Denmark, as they are the people helping them for the shipments.  She expresses satisfaction and wish to bring more to The Gambia.
