Fans can now vote for their ‘Darling Players’ and stand a bright chance of winning variety of lucrative prizes effect from last week to June 30, 2007, members of the GFA Marketing Committee told Observer Sports. Gamtel, Gamcel and Africell subscribers all over the country can either call or send SMS message to special number-105 and choose their Darling Player from the list of 23.

Each of the players is represented with jersey number with most of them maintaining their previous shirt numbers. Fans can call or send SMS message to choose their favourite players.

At the end of every week, a special draw would be held and the player with the least vote would be eliminated as the process continues until there are finalists.

During the weekly draws at the President Jammeh’s Joint Officers Mess, situated at Kotu, spectators will also buy ticket and each of the tickets will bear a number that will correspond to the seats they will sit on. A raffle draw of the seat numbers will follow where spectators can also win different prizes. The draw that would be televised every week will be held between 8.00pm to 9.00pm every week at President Jammeh’s Joint Officers Mess in Kotu.

The more SMS message/call one makes, the brighter his/her chance to win variety of prizes, including cell phones, refrigerators and more importantly, an air ticket to travel to Canada for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in June.

This fund-raising initiative was conceived by the Marketing Committee of Gambia Football Association. Col Lang Tombong Tamba, GFA First Vice President and Chairman of the Committee said the initiative is meant to raise fund for the Gambia U-20 team, ahead of their Canada trip. He called for the cooperation of all and sundry to make the initiative a success.
