Wallidan FC move on top of the GFA league table last night with three clear points after an emphatic 4-1 win over Africell/Sait Matty at Serrekunda West Mini-stadium.
Pa Amadou Gaye opened the score line for Wallidan in the 17th minutes before Sainey Touray doubled the advantage with a fascinating free-kick in the 47th minute.
The dethrone league champions stretched their lead in the 68-courtesy of Sainey Touray, commonly known as Ballack.
Sait Matty pulled a consolidation in the 88th minute before Amadou Gaye scored his second of the day to seal the match at 4-1 in the stoppage time.
Reacting to the victory, Foday Bah, head coach of Wallidan FC said: “We owe our victory to a hardwork. Since we lost our first league game, we have been working very hard and I am pleased that it yielded positive fruits.”
Coach Bah also heaped praises on his seemingly teenage side for their continued determination and commitment that is making them to fetch the desired result.
“We have a young and determine side and I am happy that we are doing well. As it stands now the future is bright. In the past we have seen Wallidan fighting back in the second round after a flabby first round, but this season we want to do away with that syndrome,” he said.
Elsewhere, the Bakau giants-Steve Biko, were again forced to wait before they can earn their first win of the season after a 2-2 draw match with Gamtel at Serrekunda East Mini-stadium yesterday.
Meanwhile, Real de Banjul’s yesterday fixture with Armed Forces was rescheduled owing to Armed Forces participation in the ongoing WALO Championships.
Week Five fixtures resume today, when Ports Authority lock horns with Bakau United at Banjul Mini-stadium while Hawks face Sea View at Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
