The draw for the preliminary round of the 2007 FA Cup championships will be held on Friday, July 14, at the Independence Stadium, Bakau, Abdou Salaam Jammeh, CAF Development Officer has revealed to Observer Sports yesterday.
The two relegated sides from the First Division league - Steve Biko and Sea View will join the ten Second Divisional clubs and four Regional clubs for the keenly awaited draw after which a specific date will be set for the grand kick off of the knock-out competition. The four regional giants include Waterman FC of Upper River Region, Jarra West and Kiang Central all of Lower River Region, and Lower Niumi Fc from North Bank Region.
The last eight teams from the preliminaries will join the awaiting eight First Divisional clubs for another balloting which will mark the start of the knock-out proper.
The last season’s FA Cup was clinched by the Red Devils, Hawks FC, who earlier finished in the mid-table in the First Division league season that was deservingly clinched by Real de Banjul.
