Gambia U-17 Opponents Unveiled
The Gambia U-17 team, selected to take part in the four- nation tournament in Abidjan, has known their opponents.
According to the President of Gambia Football Association (GFA), Seedy MB Kinteh, Gambia’s opponents in the four- nation tournament are: Niger, Cape Verde and host Cote D’Ivoire.
Mr. Kinteh revealed that the team is well prepared for the tournament slated from August 8-16, 2007 in Abidjan.
He added that the team moved to camp last night at the GFA Centre of Excellence in Yundum ahead of the tournament.
“We are only waiting for the tickets from Cote d’Ivoire and hope that the team would leave over the weekend, “ Mr. Kinteh revealed.
It could be recalled that last Sunday the technical staff of the team headed but by the Egyptian coach, Tarik and assisted by Ebrima Jallow alias EB released an 18-man squad for the Abidjan tournament.
The selected team comprised of some players of the former U-17 team who were eliminated by Senegal last year blinded with some new revelations of the season.
Meanwhile as part preparations for the Abidjan tournament, the Gambia U-17 team in a friendly encounter played yesterday at the Independence Stadium in Bakau drew 1-1 with GPA.
