GFA Observes Fair Play and Peace Day

The Gambia Football Association (GFA) would join the World Football governing body FIFA and the United Nations to conjunctly observe the 2007 FIFA Fair Play and the International Day of Peace on Friday September 21, 2007.

The Press Release from GFA Secretariat Writes:

We are pleased to inform the general public that this year’s FIFA World Fair Play Day will be held in conjunction with the United Nations International Day of Peace on Friday September 21, 2007.
Although Fair Play is a principle that should be applied all year round, the FIFA Fair Play Day provides football with a special occasion for recognizing and highlighting the best examples of sportsmanship of the year.

To help observe the day in The Gambia, we would like to call on all Nawettan Committees to incorporate Fair Play Day activities into Football fixtures in their respective communities during the weekend of 21st -23rd September 2007.

We encourage members of the zonal committees to actively promote sportsmanship.
