Wednesday, January 23, 2008
Luntang Jaiteh, the alkalo of Bakau has appealed to the electorate of Bakau to be law-abiding and to maintain the peace and tranquility as the local government elections approach.

“As alkalo of Bakau, it’s incumbent on me to give a warning to the entire Bakau community with regards to the local government elections. Let us respect the security forces during the election process. The Gambia is a peaceful country, particularly Bakau, which is known to be a tourist paradise,” he said.

According to him, we are all one people and should not allow politics to come between us.

“The peace and tranquility of Bakau will not be compromised. I would like to call on people to disperse immediately after they cast their votes and go and listen to the radios  as advised by His Excellency, Dr Alhagie Jammeh,” he concluded.
