Seven children sustained serious injuries in a near-fatal car accident when a speeding vehicle with registration number KM 4448 A veered off the road and ran into them on Saturday night around the Independence stadium in Bakau.

The children- four girls and three boys- reported to be in critical conditions, were rushed to the RVTH where they were undergoing treatment at the time of going to press.

The driver, one Christ George, is said to have since been arrest and currently in custody at the Kotu Police Station.

According to eyewitnesses, Mr George knocked the group of children before another vehicle with registration number BJL 4744 E rammed his car from behind.
