Pa Suwareh Faye, head coach of Sait Matty FC, was re-elected as the president of the Gambia Football Coaches Association during the fourth general congress of the association held on Sunday at the Independence Stadium.

Momodou Demba beat Mafuji Jatta to maintain his position as the association’s vice-president, except that he is the first-vice president this time, while Pa Samba Mbenga, former Armed Forces coach will serve as second-vice president.

Amat Cham, head coach of Division Two giants, Kaira Silo, replaced Ebou Faye as secretary-general while he will be assisted by by Jane Joof of Samger FC.

Other elected members include Mustapha Janneh and Tapha Manneh as treasurer and liaison officer respectively.

In his words of wisdom to the new executive, Mass Axi Gai, secretary of state for Youth and Sport, tasked them to work hand-in-glove to ensure the implementation of the programmes already set in by the outgoing executive.

He urged them to demonstrate a high sense of commitment towards the development of Gambian football, noting that they are the only coaches association in the country.

Assuring them of his department’s all time support, SoS Gai also advised other football coaches who are yet to join the association to do so for the good of themselves and the game.

Jammeh Bojang, secretary general of The Gambia Football Association, lauded the coaches association for a fulfiling the constitutional mandate. He assured the coaches of the football association’s unflinching support as long time partners in football development.

The re-elected president, Pa Suwareh Faye, promised to work for the best interest of the association in their bid to upgrade the standard coaching in the country.
