The Permanent Secretary of the Department of State for Youths and Sports, Mambanyick Njie, who presided over the ceremony, handed over the key of the vehicle to the Director of Youths and Sports, Malang Jassey, in a ceremony held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
Shortly before the handing over, Permanent Secretary, Mambanick Njie, spoke on the importance of mobility and cited the fact that without mobility the Department cannot function well. He said the Department has been operating without a vehicle for a long time and because of the urgent need efforts were made to acquire it for the Department.
He said a letter was written to the authorities concerned for the procurement of two vehicles, which was approved. “ One of the Vehicles is now being used at the ministry while the other one is being presented here today”, he explained.
Permanent Secretary Njie noted that the Department is an action oriented one and has the ambition to achieve what so many people can not.
He assured youth coordinators that in the near future they will also benefit from bicycles in ensuring proper facilitation of their movements.
The Director for Youths and Sports, Malang Jassey, after receiving the vehicles commended the Permanent Secretary and Ministry for making the vehicle available to the Department and promised that it will be utilised for its purpose.
The ceremony was chaired by Abdoulie Kah Deputy Permanent Secretary Department of State for Youths and sports.
Meanwhile, the official handing over of the two Italian Coaches to The Gambia Football Association will be done today. The event could not take place as scheduled yesterday due to the need for Major General Tamba, first Vice-President of the GFA, to be at BanjulInternationalAirport yesterday for the arrival of the Sierra Leonian President.
