Bakau Sports Committee has pushed forward their Super Cup final to Saturday, August 16, Hadda Bangura, president of the committee told Observer Sports yesterday.
The Super Cup final, which will pit last season’s league champions, Jazz FC, against the knock-out winners Banda FC, was previous scheduled for Friday, August 15, but with Brikama also playing their final on the same day, Bangura believes rescheduling the final is necessary to give sports enthusiasts an option to watch both finals.
“Since Brikama will be playing their final on Friday, we decided to reschedule ours so that we can grace both finals,” Bangura said.
He added that Bakau will, this year, play their nawettan matches at the Independence Stadium while the town’s only mini-stadium undergoes intensive renovation.
“The current state of our mini-stadium is so deplorable that we have to shift venue. While we play matches at the Independence Stadium, the ground will be undergoing renovation.
“Our two councillors, Alagie Bahoum and Ousman Rambo Jatta, are working tirelessly with the committee to ensure that we tap the funds needed to upgrade the ground,” he concluded.
