As part of its support to the community, Standard Chatered Bank (SCB) will this year sponsor the cost of running a Family House at the SOS Children’s Village in Bakoteh. A minimum amount of D200,000 has been budgeted to meet the annual cost of all the needs of the children living in the said house, including school fees, food, medical aid, clothing and the maintenance cost of the house, among others.
Humphrey Mukwereza, the Chief Executive Officer of SCB said the initiative of the bank to strengthening its support to local communities is in line with its social responsibilities.
“We are delighted to continue the tradition of contributing to the well being of our communities through partnership with SOS Children’s Village. Children are the future of our country and we are priviledged to have been given the opportunity to sponsor the 10 Children living in house no.2 of the Village,” said the bank’s CEO.
According to him, SCB has undertaken major community projects and initiatives in the Gambia, among which he said are the construction of a Children’s Ward at the RVTH, construction of a child Drop-in centre in Tallinding and the Western Region’s Children’s hospital to name a few.
The Village has ten family homes out of which Standard Chartered Gambia Limited will be sponsoring one.
