Unimpeachable sources have informed this paper that Mr Alhajie Sillah, former coach of the national senior team (the Scorpions), current coach of Gamtel, a renowned football instructor and Director of Planning and Development at Banjul City Council, intends to contest the Banjul North constituency seat in the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25th 2007 under the ticket of the ruling APRC party.

Mr Sillah started coaching since 1983 and has since grown popular in the sports circle as both an instructor and coach.

Following Sheikh Omar Njie’s declaration that he intends to stand down other contestants for the Banjul North seat include Bakary Jaiteh and Lie Bah who was a one time Councillor for Tobacco Road in the first republic.
