Jean Michel Kauffman, Director General of the Alliance Franco Gambienne recently stated that the role of his institution is geared towards the promotion, development and preservation of Arts and Culture throughout the world.
Mr Michel made these observations in an exclusive interview with the Arts and Culture,according to him, Alliance Franco is a non-profit making organisation with branches in almost all the countries of the world, adding that each branch of Alliance Franco has it’s own role to play. He described the roles of the Gambian branch as teaching the French language to both adults and students, encouraging Arts and Culture particularly the French Culture.
He revealed that Alliance Franco was established in The Gambia in 1949 in Banjul and later transferred to the Kairaba Avenue in 1996. Mr Michel further described The Gambia as a fertile ground for the development, promotion and preservation of Arts and Culture.
He therefore urged the young talented artists to keep up the momentum and assured them of his institution’s readiness to work with them at all times. The Alliance Franco Boss described the recently concluded visit to The Gambia of Marcel Salem, a Senegalese born reggae superstar based in France as a resounding success.
According to him, the Senegalese artist had embarked on a massive musical tour of Africa, especially The Gambia and Senegal, as part of his efforts towards the promotion and development of the spirit of love and peace between the youth of the two countries.
The performance attracted a huge turnout of music lovers, especially reggae fans and it was rated by many in attendance as among the best reggae night shows in the history of The Gambia’s music showbiz.
