Following the commencement of the nomination of candidates for the 25th January parliamentary election, the ruling APRC party yesterday had its selected candidates nominated countrywide.
Speaking to journalists shortly after his nomination, Mr. Abdoulie Saine of Banjul Central said that if elected he would see to it that the drainage and street lights systems are improved within his constituency. A confident-looking Mr Saine maintained that he would win massively, noting that all the youths, women and families are undoubtedly behind him.
Alhagie Sillah, the candidate for Banjul North, said: “My winning expectation are very high. I am representing a party which set a very good track record in national development.”
For his part, Alhagie Baboucarr S. Nyang alias Papa Laity, also expressed optimism about his chances of winning.
In the Western Region, nine APRC Candidates including four new faces in the persons of Matarr Kujabi for Foni Bondali; Lamin Bojang for Kombo East; Sheriff Abba Sanyang for Foni Kansala, and Momodou F.S.H. Jarjue for Kombo Central, were also duly nominated.
Elsewhere in the country, Hon. Sainey Mbaye of Upper Saloum vowed to maintain the seat, thanking the people of the constituency for trusting him enough to nominate him for another term. He assured them of his committed service should he be elected. In the Upper River Region, all the candidates were likewise upbeat about their chances of winning in their respective constituencies.
In all seven, namely Alhagie Bekai Camara (Wuli East); Phoday M. Kebbeh (Wuli West); Mama Kandeh (Gimara); Salou Bah (Basse); Neteh Baldeh (Tumana); Moro Kanaji Jawla (Sandu) and Saikou Suso (Kantora) were nominated.
Meanwhile in another development, an independent candidate from Kombo South, Abdou Kolley, was nominated to challenge the bid of the incumbent, Hon. Paul Mendy.
