National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) has recently signed a contract with an independent power producer, a Canadian firm called NAAVOVO.
The contract, our source said, would be to set in motion the production of renewable energy of 18 Megawatts.
The project, scheduled to kick off early this year, is expected to give NAWEC additional capacity towards meeting the demand of power supply for the Greater Banjul Area. The project would seek to use waste to generate electricity and would be situated in Tujereng, Kombo South.
The sources indicated that the government’s focus would thus be on the enhancement of transmission and network.
