President Yahya Jammeh, acting in accordance with powers conferred upon him by the constitution of The Gambia has removed Dr Tamsir Mbowe, Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare, effective Friday  November 9, 2007,  from his post. He has been replaced by Dr Malick Njie, who was hitherto Director of Medical Services. Dr Malick Njie once occupied the post of military medic before joining RVTH. He then served as Chief Medical Director, RVTH.
