To further consolidate their already existing partnership, the Gambian-Japan Friendship Association (GAJAFA), in collaboration with James Junkung Jammeh Lower Basic School last Sunday, held its first-ever clean-up exercise, commonly known as set-setal, at the school grounds in Abuko.
The exercise which was aimed at improving the learning environment of the school, brought together students, teachers and parents to clean the premises of the school.
Speaking to our correspondent at the school grounds, Yasumi Ozawa, President of GAJAFA commended the teachers and students of the school for a job well-done. She said that her association would work hand-in-glove with the school to carry out similar exercises in the near future.
Ms Ozawa further revealed that her association is also having members in
Anne Marie-Gassama, Headmistress of the school appealed to vendors to always maintain the highest standard of cleanliness. She urged them to always clean their environment before and after selling.
Commenting on the set-settal, Mrs Gassama described it as timely as this is the period of the year when long grasses are found every where and can be used by dangerous reptile for hideouts.
She assured that the event would be an annual activity in the school.
