Willy John Joof, a former permanent secretary at the Department of State for Foreign Affairs is expected to appear before Magistrate Kayode Olajubutu of the Banjul Magistrates Court on fresh charges.
Mr Joof who was standing trial on charges of official corruption while in the public service as The Gambia’s ambassador to France, allegedly received €24,391 and a brand new Peugeot valued at €26,448.18 from Gerrard Nuss and Michael Coencas as conditions for their appointment at the Gambian embassy in France.
The accused was discharged by the Banjul Magistrates Court due to the prosecution’s failure to appear in court on three consecutive sittings.
