Campama receives donation

The Nigerian Women Association in The Gambia, on Wednesday, donated supplies of foodstuff worth D3,000 to the Campama Psychiatric Unit, at a presentation ceremony held at the unit  in Banjul.

The donation - meant to improve sanitation at the unit included a bag of sugar, rice, toothpaste tubes and soaps.
Presenting the items, Madam Agnes Fagbenle, president of the association, said the association has been rendering humanitarian assistance to the needy and underprivileged in society, since its inception in 2004.

“We believe that those at the unit are our family members, relatives and friends who need our aid. So, people should treat them as human beings and not stigmatise them,’’ she stated.
According to her, it is their objective to reach out to the disabled in society. She then assured the unit of her association’s continuous support to this group of people.
Madam Vangale Julet, vice-president of the association, said the donation was intended to render what she described as a “motherly support to patient.”
 
Receiving the gesture, Agie Marie Mendy, a matron at the Psychiatric Unit, commended the women for the gesture. She told them that the donation will go a long way towards contributing to the hygine of the patients and then assured that the items will be put into good use.
At the end of the ceremony, the Nigerian women prayed for the speedy recuperation of the patients admitted at the unit.
