Speaker receives Napsa’s executive

Hon Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay, Speaker of the National Assembly, on Wednesday, received the executive members of the National Patriotic Student’s Association (Napsa), who bade her a courtesy call in her office in Banjul.

Receiving the visitors, Hon Jahumpa-Ceesay, thanked the students for the courtesy call. She advised the students to be disciplined and united in their endeavours. “You should always behave well in society and also to be disciplined,” she added. She assured them of her willingness to inform the Education Select Committee in the National Assembly, to make sure that issues related to youth and students are brought before the parliament.

Muhammed Bah, President of Napsa, congratulated Hon Jahumpa-Ceesay, on behalf of Napsa, on her nomination and election as the Speaker. Mr. Bah commended Hon Jahumpa-Ceesay, for always acting as a mother to the association. “We were very happy when we heard the news of your appointment and felt it a duty for us to come here and congratulate you, as well ask for your advice,” he said.

Sainabou Jallow, a member of the Napsa Advisory Board, also commended Hon Jahumpa-Ceesay on her unflinching support to Napsa. Hon Seedy Njie, Nominated Member of the National Assembly, a former President of Napsa, thanked the Speaker for her reception. Hon Njie used the occasion to thank President Yahya Jammeh for nominating him to the National Assembly and then promised to deliver.

Hon Njie advised the students to avoid being used by politicians for selfish gains. “You should always be careful of politicians, who might use you for their own interest at the expense of the state.”
