Thursday, May 17, 2007

Lamin Badjie, who was found in possession of a firearm at the Banjul free port, has been convicted and sentenced to spend three weeks in prisons or an option of D500 court fine.

Adducing the ingredients of the matter before the Banjul Magistrates’ Court, the prosecution officer informed the court that Lamin had gone to the Customs & Excise department in Banjul to clear a consignment of items after receiving a phone call from a British couple that some items were shipped to him and should, therefore, go and clear them.

“ In the process of clearing the goods, a firearm was found in them and the accused was subsequently invited to Banjul Police Station for questioning,”  officer Fatty informed the court chaired by B.Y Camara.
