The President of the Senegalese Athletics Federation and president of West African Region, Mr. Momar Mbaye, last week visited his Gambian counterparts.
Speaking in an interview with Pointsport at his office in Banjul, Dodou Capi Joof, Secretary General of Gambia Athletics Association, said that Mr. Mbaye’s visit is to seek advice from The Gambia concerning the region.
Mr. Mbaye, who took over the helm of African region from the Gambia, was nominated and assisted by the GAA to take over and become the president of the region.
Mr. Joof pointed out Mr. Mbaye visit was to learn from the Gambia’s experience in running the region.
He added that Mr. Mbaye needs the help of the Gambia to guide him to process.
Mr. Joof revealed that their discussion centered on the programme of activities for the region during the period 2007-2009.
“We also advice him for the formation of the marketing and technical committees in other to get funds for the region and the way forward which he appreciate and promise that he will continue to seek advice from The Gambia,” Mr. Joof revealed.
