Tanji Resident Jailed

Friday, June 8, 2007

The Brikama Magistrates’ Court in Western Region last Monday administered a two-month jail term to a Tanji resident for threatening to kill one Ebrima Jammeh of the same village.

Adama Sarr on Monday admitted responsibility for throwing stones at the shop of Ebrima as well as threatening to kill him. He was consequently sentenced to spend 24 months in jail without an alternative of fine and the sentence would be served at the State Central Prison in Banjul.

In his plea for mitigation, Adama begged the court to show him grace and forgive him, saying his father had passed away long time ago and that he was living alone with his mother.

‘I am the breadwinner of the family now,’ he added.
