With a view to improving the quality of life for under-privileged children, Youth Care Foundation-The Gambia on Saturday organized Banjul City All-Children’s End-of-Schools’ Year Show/Teachers’ and Headmasters’ Award ceremony. The event, held at Parochial Hall in Banjul, was also used to raise funds for underprivileged children in Banjul.
In his remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Kolapo Abdul, Director of Youth Care Foundation-Gambia, asserted that children are the heritage of a nation. Children, he said, are gifts from God and therefore, they must be celebrated.
“We must celebrate their growth, talents, development and wellbeing. Many of their mates are deprived of their chances in rightful places in the society,” he stated.
“Education is the way to move mountains, build bridges and to change the world. It is the path to the future. I once again welcome our teachers. I want all of us to really thank them for keeping our children for this outgoing school year. They have given them the opportunities to develop intellectually, physically, morally and socially.”
