BSC Disciplines Three Players

In its drive to avoid violence in the forthcoming Nawettan season, the Banjul Sport Committee (BSC) recently banned a player and suspended two others in the qualifiers round.

The players were accused of inciting violence during the 2007 Nawettan qualifiers.

In the same vein a protest letter from Changbi FC was dismissed by the committee.

We reproduce the full release from Banjul Sport Committee signed by the Secretary General Ebou Faye.

I am directed by the Organizing Committee to inform you on the following:

M M FAAL F C
That after scrutinizing the referee’s report on your match against Sikarr Ci on Sunday, 22nd July 07, in which both Francis Prom and Gibriel Cham used abusive language against the match officials. As such both players have been suspended for the rest of the 2007 Nawetaan.

KEREWAN SOUNDS F C
That after scrutinizing the referee’s report on your match against Late Kebba Demba on Sunday, 22nd July 07 in which Matarr Joof after the match hit one of the Assistant Referees with an umbrella on the head causing an injury. As such Matarr Joof has been banned from all activities of the Banjul Sport Committee and the matter is forwarded to the police for further action.

CHANGBI F C
Base on your protest letter dated 22nd July 07 refers.
Please be informed that only teams from Kombo are exempted from registering in Banjul but not players. Any player(s) irrespective were they are from are free to compete in the Nawetaan.
On the Match Referee, the matter has been forwarded to the Gambia Football Referee’s Association who are responsible for allocating and disciplining referees for action.
In another development the final matches of the 2007 Banjul Nawettan qualifiers would be played this week end.
