Another Attack on Oyster Collectors

Thursday, August 16, 2007

Another report of an undeserved attack yet again on one oyster collector around Bund Road in Banjul has been reported. Miss Zaglin Sambou, 28 years of age, was reportedly attacked on Friday 10th of August at around 11am by an unknown assailant and got stabbed in three spots around her neck; and her supposed attacker, Sulayman Ceesay of Half-Die, Banjul, is reported to be captured by the police and currently detained at the Banjul Police Station.

The police PRO Inspector Secka, confirmed the arrest of Sulayman Ceesay. He further brought to light that Sulayman Ceesay is from Half-Die in Banjul where he has constructed himself an enclosure within the mangrove swamps, as his base. The PRO maintained that investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be charged accordingly when investigations are completed.

According to family members, friends and colleagues of the victim, Miss Zaglin Sambou was attacked and stabbed by a man until she fell into an unconscious state. And as the culprit was dragging her towards the mangrove swamps one man spotted the episode and rushed to her aid.

Miss Sambou was then taken to RVTH where she has been hospitalized for at least a week. She was reportedly discharged last Thursday and currently staying with a sister in Sinchu nursing her wounds. Readers would recall that a woman was last year mysteriously beheaded at around Stink Corner.
