GRTS Saikou Dibba Passes Away

News of the sudden death of Mr. Saikou Dibba of GRTS has sent shock-waves in the community especially in the Gambian media.
The news of the untimely departure of Mr. Dibba was announced on the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) yesterday.

According to sources close to this paper, Mr. Dibba, an assistant producer with GRTS passed away in the early hours of Tuesday at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital following a brief illness.
The deceased joined GRTS in January 2005 as an announcer. In the intervening years, he rose through the ranks to the position of assistant producer, a position he held at the time of his death.
Mr. Dibba was survived by a wife and child.

“The shocking news of Dibba’s death was broken to me at 2:30am. His departure will, without doubt, create a void in that Saikou was a committed, dedicated and hard-working member of staff. He in fact returned from a trek on Monday. A devout Muslim, Saikou was a respectful person and commanded a lot of respect from several quarters,” Modou Joof, deputy director of GRTS told The Point in a telephone interview yesterday.
“It matters not how a man dies, but how he lives. The act of dying is not of importance, it lasts so short a time,” remarked an apparently distraught colleague of Dibba’s.
