Thursday, February 28, 2008

Officials from Sun Ten Pharmaceutical Company in Taiwan are currently in the country for a five-day working visit. They are Mr. Gustavo Kao, Sales Specialists International Trade Department and Mr. J-Wen Lian, plant Manager of the said company.

Speaking in an interview with this reporter at the Taiwanese Embassy yesterday the officials revealed to me the purpose of their visit. According to them, their company is a herbal manufacturing company in Taipei, Taiwan. “During President Jammeh’s recent visit to Taiwan, our President Chen took him to our company and your president decided to invite us to The Gambia to discuss possible cooperation between our company and The Gambia.” said the visiting Sun Ten Pharmaceutical officials.  They added that they are also here to gather as much information as they can which they will forward to their General Manager since the counties are good friends.

The delegation, earlier on Monday, had an audience with President Jammeh at State House, in attendance was the Taiwanese Ambassador to The Gambia Dr Patrick Chang. They revealed to me that they discussed the matter at length with President Jammeh. Herbal medicine in Taiwan and The Gambia may differ but the visiting herbal specialists are very enthusiastic about the project. They thanked the Gambian people for their hospitality.
