The protracted case on the rebel attack on Farafenni Military Barracks in the North Bank Region in 1996,  Tuesday resumed at the High Court in Banjul, before Justice Yamoa.

The case involving Abdoulie Sonko, who is also the last accused person facing charges at the country’s High Court had suffered a series of adjournments owing to the absence of the former defence counsel, Mai Fatty, who is out of the country on medical treatment.
 
When the case was mentioned on Tuesday, Lawyer Lamin Camara announced his representation for the accused person,  Abdoulie Sonko. He acknowledged that the prosecution has closed its case and quickly announced that he is equally prepared to open his defence. He then informed the series of problems encountered hindering him to proceed with his defence.

According to Counsel Camara, the problem among other things included, the access to the case filed documents for the purpose of photo copy as well as the problem of reading the hand written documents of the case.

Presiding judge Justice Yamoa then assured him that the case files will be available for him whenever he needs them but was also quick to say ‘hope you will also recognise my hand writings’ which the defence counsel promised to endeavour.

The case was then adjourned to 2nd May 2008 for continuation.
