Impeccable sources reaching the Daily Observer has confirmed that, staff of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in Banjul, still have their salaries pending, due to reasons not known.

However, this reporter visited RVTH yesterday, to get the facts surrounding the late salary payment.

When contacted to shed light on the issue, Baboucarr Ngum, public relations officer of RVTH, told this reporter that the issue of salary payments are policy matters and that he cannot comment or say anything on it.

PRO Ngum then directed this reporter to one Mrs Awa K John, head of the RVTH accounts.

When this reporter went to the accounts section, he met a young secretary who was called to come and talk to him but she ignored the call.

This young secretary (name not known), after wasting sometime, said, she is eating and that she cannot come at that moment.  Suddenly, a staff at the accounts section called her to come and talk to our reporter hence it is on urgent official matter.

This reporter was at that juncture called upon to meet Mrs Awa K John, head of accounts section at RVTH. Mrs John disclosed to the Daily Observer reporter that she is not allowed to talk to the press and again referred this reporter back to PRO Ngum.

However, this reporter went back to PRO Ngum’s office, but he met the door closed.  Our reporter then called the PRO’s mobile phone, and a white lady received the call and said to him that the PRO is in a meeting.

Our reporter also made tireless efforts to meet Dr. Mariatou Jallow, chief medical director of RVTH, but her private secretary Fatou Ceesay Nyabally, told this reporter that Dr Mariatou Jallow is busy solving some urgent official matters and that she cannot grant this reporter interview on this matter even though it is official.

An insider at RVTH also informed our reporter that at the time of going to press, they were issued pay slips but no money.
