A 12-year old boy of Gloucester Street in Banjul has gone missing for 16 days now, leaving no trails of his whereabouts. Buba Sarr, a fifth grade student at St Mary’s Primary School, was last seen when he accompanied his stepfather to buy exercise books at a stationery shop in Banjul.
Mrs Mariama Conteh, mother of the boy and a resident of Banjul, stormed the offices of the Daily Observer yesterday, shedding tears of anguish for her missing son.
“This is the third weeks since Buba went missing. He is nowhere to be seen despite a search in the streets of Banjul, Serrekunda, Brikama and other places,” Mrs Conteh wailed, looking pathetic and worried.
She told the Daily Observer that Buba was last seen on May 8 and was said to have apparently ran away, while himself and the stepfather set out to a stationery shop. The reason for the disappearance of the boy has continued to remain a mystery.
Mrs Conteh, who appeared to be emotionally broken down, lodged the matter at various the police stations in Banjul, Bakau, Bundung, Serrekunda, Brikama, Police Intervention Unit at Kanifing, amongst others.
