Kemo Trawally, who was charged for the murder of one Momodou Ceesay, a resident of Brikama, Western Region in 2005, was recently convicted and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, by Justice Agyemang at the Criminal Division of the High Court in Banjul.

The presiding judge’s decision came following Defence Counsel Andrew’s  filing of a plea bargain motion from murder to manslaughter. The application was granted by the presiding judge.
Before handing down her judgement, Justice Agyemang  informed Kemo Trawally of the nature of the charge preferred against him by the state.

In her judgement, the High Court judge said having granted the plea bargain application of the defence from murder to manslaughter, the court therefore convicted and sentenced the accused to 15 years imprisonment with respect to the 3 years the accused had spent at the remand wing of Mile II.

However, Miss Andrew, counsel for the accused, begged the court to temper justice with mercy as she said the accused is a family man, married with a wife and children.
