The Gambia Women Finance Association (GAWFA) on Wednesday, 30th May 2007 disbursed over D500,500 to over 20 women groups in Central River Region South, at a ceremony held in Bansang Town. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Kebba Cora, Alkalo of Bansang commended GAWFA for such a laudable assistance to women groups in the region.
He urged the beneficiaries to put the money into good use to enable them pay back the loan on time.
 
Ebrima Ganno, GAWFA’s branch manager for Central River Region South and Upper River Region, urged the beneficiaries to invest the loan into their rightful purposes.
He advised them to continue their weekly and monthly savings in order to access bigger loans and to improve their financial status.
 
For his part, Malang Saibo Camara, Chairman, Janjangbureh Area Council urged the beneficiaries to repay their loans on time. “This will give the organisation the strength and confidence to disburse more loans and on time,” he stated.
Mrs. Marie Humma, a beneficiary from Darou Village, delivered the vote of thanks.
