More revelations at Court Martial

Captain Saikou Seckan, an Officer of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) yesterday told the on going Court Martial at the Yundum Military Barracks, that the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Colonel Ndure Cham, the ring leader of March 21 foiled coup plot had told him to shoot at those whose names are on the list if they resist arrest.

Captain Saikou Seckan in his evidence-in -chief as the state witness in the on going Court Martial said the former CDS mentioned colonel Lang Tombong Tamba, current Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Buba Badjie, Head of Intelligence and Security service, the Gambia Armed forces (GFA).

Captain Seckan informed the Court Martial that on the 20th March 2006, Captain Bunja Darboe called him in his office and told him about a coup plot to overthrow the democratic-elected government of The Gambia.

According to him, Captain Bunja Darboe made mention of certain Armed Forces Senior Officers from different military installations countrywide as part of the coup plot.

He then indicated that Captain Darboe was unable to convince him to join the coup plotters. He said he later informed the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) who promised to work on the information.
He added that he works with members of the NIA up to the time of effecting the arrest of suspected coup plotters on the March 21, 2006 . Captain Seckan however, revealed that, he was personally arrested by the NIA officials on the ground of protective arrest.
