LIPS Holds Graduation

The Lamin Institute for Professional Studies (LIPS) last Saturday held its 7th graduation ceremony for over 85 graduands at the prestigious Willy’s Night Club in Lamin.

LIPS was established some years back with the ultimate aim of imparting sound entrepreneurial skills to people and since its establishment, employers of labour of different establishments have been employing graduands of this institution.

Addressing graduands and guests at the graduation ceremony, the proprietor and executive director of LIPs Mr Daniel Osagie, stressed that education is the highway and key to development if both the individual and nation. According to the LIPS boss, The Gambia needs skilled people with sound entrepreneurial skills and motivation to work hard to achieve their goals.

“ Lamin Institute of Professional of Professional Studies was established to under take this task. That is the task of empowering the youth of this country with sound entrepreneurial skills so that they can contribute meaningfully to national development,” he reiterated.

“ Similarly, we also assist our graduands to secure employment to practicalise the skills they have acquired. This we have done for many who are happily and presently working in various organisations across the country. We also link our students to further their studies overseas.”

Mr Osagie also used the occasion to inform his audience about the establishment of another branch of LIPS in Brikama as a way of bringing quality education to the doorstep of the people of Brikama and its nearby environs.

For his part the alkalo of Lamin Mbemba Bojang, described Mr Daniel Osagie as a saviour, congratulating him for bringing education to the doorsteps of the people of Lamin and environs.

He therefore urged the people of Lamin to take favourable advantage of the facilities at LIPS.

Other speakers on the occasion included Baye Jagne, chairman of LIPS board of Trustees.

Meanwhile, the over 85 graduands have successfully completed their course study in Computer and IT, Business Administration, Travel and Tourism and English Language proficiency.
