Reports reaching The Point intimate that a fire incident occurred in the compound of Baboucarr Keita alias Findi in Brikama Gidda last Friday, torching eight houses and destroying materials worth over D500,000.

Narrating the story to this reporter, Kebba B. Keita, a brother to the victim, said the fire outbreak was caused by a candlelight that came in contact with the curtain in the house and eventually spread all over resulting to total destruction.

According to Mr Keita the fire, which started between the hours of 8pm and 10pm on Friday, 19th January, came at a time when some of the occupants of the affected houses went to attend an APRC rally around the area.

“No food, no materials, has been left behind. Everything was burnt down,” he said, adding that the whole family is worried about their living.

Mr Keita thus called on the president, Dr. Alhagie Yahya Jammeh, the public and private sector, to come to their aid. He added that this is an incident that needs urgent attention.
