Gambian soldier killed in Ukraine

Unimpeachable sources reaching the Daily Observer have disclosed that Captain Lamin Jarjue, who was undergoing an Aviation Course, to become a pilot was recently stabbed to death in Ukraine.

The news was disclosed to his family in Brikama, on Thursday by the Head Chief of Kombo Central, Dembo Santang Bojang who led a delegation, comprising the top brass of the Gambia Armed Forces, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Lang Tombong Tamba. According to Chief Bojang, the deceased was stabbed to death, while in Ukraine as narrated by the family, although they could not corroborate the actual cause of the incident.

Soon after the information was disclosed to the family, the late Captain Jarjue’s mother collapsed and subsequently rushed to Brikama Health Centre, before she comes out of coma.

Speaking to the Daily Observer before going to press, the widow, Assie Badjie described her husband as ‘very obedient and that the culprit must be brought to book’.

She then prayed that the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace.

Captain Jarjue was survived with a wife and two kids.
