As part of plans to complement government efforts chriss Allwright alias Muhammed, the founder and proprietor of the Gambia Schooling Fund, a British philantropiest who is now based in the Gambia has put his words into action by implementing two projects a photo lab (Rise and shine photo lab) and a Travel Agency, amounting to over one million dalasis, all situated at Brikama opposite the market.
The offices were inaugurated on Saturday 20th October 2007 at a ceremony held at Brikama.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chriss Allwright alias Muhammed expressed his desire to complement government efforts by creating job oppotunities for the Gambian youths.
“ Thats why we are gathered here to inaugurate these two projects and more projects are in the pipeline” he noted.
He reiterated the warm welcome accorded to him by Gambians since his arrival and further saluted President Yahya Jammeh whom he describe as a role medel in development.
Mr Allwright further pointed out that, there will be another inauguration ceremony by February next year of a Supermarket that will be selling the cheapest rice and fresh fish in the Gambia and quickly noted that, no alkahole will be sold in the said Supermarket. “ My ultimate aim is to help the needy, so that basic commodities can be affordable to them at a reasonable price” he said.
For his part, Inspector Lamin King Colley of Brikama Police Station vowed to support and give protection to the British philanthropist, whom he labelled as a great man, who assist the needy, institutions and many others. He mentioned the valuable assistance he rendered to Brikama Police Station in the rehabilation of the station that amount to D50,000.
Other speakers included Mariama Cham, Managress of First International Bank, Brikama branch, Lamin Imam Nyassi, the Imam of Brikama Santosu, all saluted Mr Allwright for the suapport. Jawara Damba, Station Officer, Brikama Police Station graced the ceremony.
