Drug smuggler’s case adjourned

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

Senior Magistrate, EF M’Bai of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, adjourned the alleged drug trafficking case involving Modou Sallah to November 22nd 2007, due to the absence of the prosecutor.

It could be recalled that Mr Sallah in his testimony during the last sitting, maintained that the cannabis was given to him by an unknown person from Somita village who told him to transport it for him to Sofuma while he (the accused) was transporting vegetables to Basse.

It could also be recalled that National Drug Enforcement Agency Prosecutor Ceesay denied Mr Sallah’s testimony. He told the court that the said drugs belong to Modou Sallah and he was transporting them from Serrekunda to Basse for the purpose of trafficking.

Mr Sallah was arrested four months ago by the Drug Control Officers at Kamfenda Police Station after being found in possession of 3kg of cannabis.
