Two youths charged for stealing sheep

Ebrima Gassama and Sankung Gibba first and second accused persons were, on Tuesday, paraded before the Brikama Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate EF M’Bai on charges of stealing contrary to the criminal laws of the Gambia.

Narrating the matter before the court, Kebba Bojang, a police officer attached to the Airport Police Station explained that on the 7th of November 2007 while he was on duty somebody brought a report  that he saw three boys  with three sheep going towards Lamin Village. Mr Bojang told the court that upon receiving the information, he went with two police officers to see them.

He said when confronted, the boys ran away but they chased them and later apprehended the first and the second accused  while the third, Sheriff, could not be apprehended.

Mr Bojang explained that the two accused persons and the three sheep were then taken to the station and there, one Jato Sillah identified the sheep as his.

Both accused persons  admitted stealing the sheep stating that they stole them from Makumbaya.

The case was then adjourned for the testimony of witnesses.
